How are these companies chosen?

This year’s list measures revenue growth from 2003 through 2006. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by the first week of 2003, and therefore able to show four full calendar years of sales. Additionally, they had to be U.S.-based, privately held, and independent–not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies–as of December 31, 2006. The minimum revenue required for 2003 is $200,000; the minimum for 2006 is $2 million.
